FIRST TIME PARENTS
The Group offers midwife-led antenatal education that is based on the most recent research and underpinned by our years of first hand experience. We ensure that classes are stimulating, interactive and non-judgemental, and always make time for questions to ensure that you feel prepared no matter how your birth story unfolds.
OUR FIRST-TIME PARENTS COURSES OFFER:
Honest, evidence based, and realistic accounts from practising midwives with first hand experience.
Intimate groups of up to eight couples. Friendships blossom with whatsapp groups and regular meet ups.
Classes are interactive and dynamic, and provide plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
Held in a private room in a pub for a relaxed atmosphere.
50/50 split of content covering labour and birth, and early days with a baby.
Tailor made handbooks 'Path to Birth' and the '4th Trimester'.
Stay for dinner following two of the classes (Lunch on weekend courses).
Two of our previous couples return to tell their Birth Stories.
We provide useful links following each class, and unlimited email support from Emily, Vicky and Rachel.
Enable couples to feel confident in making informed choices for themselves and their new babies.

Week 1: Signs and process of labour and birth. Where to give birth: home, birth centre, or hospital?
Week 2: Coping strategies and Pain relief. An Introduction to Hypnobirthing and Aromatherapy.
Week 3: If birth doesn't go as planned, and the birth partner’s role. Two couples come back to tell their birth story! Stay for Dinner!
Week 4: Early days with your baby, recovery time, looking after yourself and your baby, and life as a new parents.
Week 5: Feeding your baby: Breastfeeding - what to expect, how to do it and common problems. Bottle feeding - with expressed breast milk or formula.
Week 6: Common practicalities such as swaddling, bathing and nappy changing, and babywearing taster with Rachel from East Dulwich Slings. Stay for dinner!
Our intensive weekend courses cover all these topics over two days in The Half Moon Pub, Herne Hill.
WHICH GROUP IS RIGHT FOR US?
You can join The Group at any time following your 12 week scan (when your due date is confirmed). We advise that you join a group where the last date session is at least 3 weeks before your baby's due date. If you are not sure which course to choose, then contact us and we will be happy to advise you.
